Sherman Plaza
A downtown Evanston landmark — face brick, cast stone accents, and Art Deco detail that has held for over 15 years.
At 1620 Sherman Avenue — blocks from Northwestern University and Lake Michigan, in the heart of downtown Evanston — stands Sherman Plaza. Erected in 2007, the plaza carries face brick wrapping with cast stone accents around its openings. The residential building within the plaza is constructed with block walls extending from ground level to roof, face brick around the storefront and parking garage, Art Deco design between each structural pier, and cast stone and granite at the base. More than fifteen years later, the building’s structural integrity remains sound, as does the detail of the stonework at the base and lintels. Sherman Plaza is a landmark of the Evanston area.
